사드락, 메삭과 아벳느고로부터 온 신호
A CUE FROM SHADRACH, MESHACH AND ABEDNEGO
...오 느부갓네살이여...오 왕이여... 우리가 섬기는 하나님께서 맹렬히 불타는 용광로에서 능히 우리를 건져 내시겠고 또한 그분께서 왕의 손에서 우리를 건져 내시리이다. 그러나 그리하지 아니하실지라도, 오 왕이여, 우리가 왕의 신들을 섬기지 아니하고 왕께서 세우신 금 형상에게 경배하지도 아니할 줄을 왕은 아옵소서, 하니라 (다니엘 3:16-18).
사드락, 메삭과 아벳느고는 그 당시 정부에 의해 왕의 금 형상에 절하라고 그렇지 않으면 불타는 용광로에 태울 것이라고 협박 받았습니다. 그들은, 위축되기보다 죽기를 선택함으로, 타협하기를 거절했습니다. 그들의 영감을 주는 확신의 발언과 주님에 대한 절대적인 헌신이 우리가 우리의 주제 성경 기록에서 읽은 것입니다.
하나님을 믿는 그들의 동요하지 않는 믿음은 왕을 극도로 화나게 만들었고 그 왕은 그들을 불타는 용광로에 던져지도록 명령했습니다. 그 불은 너무 강렬해서 그들을 안으로 던져 넣었던 사람들을 태우고 죽였습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 사드락, 메삭과 아벳느고는 다치지 않았습니다. 주님께서 그들을 보호하셨습니다.
느부갓네살이 그들이 타는 듯한 용광로에 의해 해를 입지 않은 것을 알아차렸습니다, 그는 후회했고, “...사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 찬송할지로다. 그분께서 자신의 천사를 보내사 자신을 신뢰하며... 자신의 종들을 건지셨으니... 그러므로 내가 칙령을 내리노니 무엇이든지 잘못 말하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 대적하는 모든 백성과 민족과 언어는 여러 조각으로 쪼개고 그들의 집을 거름더미로 삼을지니라. 이런 식으로 능히 사람을 건져낼 다른 신은 없느니라, 하고” (다니엘 3:28-29) 라고 선포했습니다.
그것이 바로 당신이, 맹렬하고 겁먹게 하는 반대에도 불구하고, 믿음 안에서 당신의 입장을 고수할 때 일어나는 것입니다. 머지 않아, 당신을 폄하하는 사람들이 당신의 믿음과 확신들에 의해 영감을 받을 것입니다, 그것이 그들의 구원을 이끌 수 있을 것입니다. 그러므로, 당신의 생명으로 하나님을 섬기십시오.

그러므로, 믿음 안에서 그분을 향한 당신의 입장을 고수하십시오. 사드락, 메삭과 아벳느고로부터 온 신호를 취하십시오.
고백
하나님의 말씀이 나의 영 안에 아주 강하게 있습니다, 그것은 불과 같아서 내 뼛속에 사무칩니다 그리고 아무 것도 그리스도의 복음에 대한 나의 믿음의 확언과 나의 선포를 방해할 수 없습니다. 나는 내 안에 사시는 성령님에 의해 강해지고 힘을 받습니다, 그리고 그분은 나를 절대적인 승리자로 만드셨습니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

다니엘 3:16-30 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 왕에게 대답하여 이르되, 오 느부갓네살이여, 우리가 이 일에 대해 왕께 대답하기를 염려하지 아니하나이다. 오 왕이여, 그리될지라도 우리가 섬기는 우리 하나님께서 맹렬히 불타는 용광로에서 능히 우리를 건져 내시겠고 또한 그분께서 왕의 손에서 우리를 건져 내시리이다. 그러나 그리하지 아니하실지라도, 오 왕이여, 우리가 왕의 신들을 섬기지 아니하고 왕께서 세우신 금 형상에게 경배하지도 아니할 줄을 아옵소서, 하니라. 그때에 느부갓네살이 분노가 가득하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 향해 자기의 얼굴 모습을 바꾸니라. 그런 까닭에 그가 말하고 명령하여 그들이 그 용광로를 평소에 뜨겁게 하던 것보다 일곱 배나 더 뜨겁게 하도록 하고 또 자기 군대에서 가장 강한 용사들에게 명령하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 묶어 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 던져 넣게 하니라. 이에 이 사람들이 겉옷과 정강이받이와 모자와 다른 옷들을 입은 채 결박당하여 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 던져졌더라. 왕의 명령이 긴급하고 용광로가 심히 뜨거웠으므로 불꽃이 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 붙든 자들을 죽였고 이 세 사람 곧 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고는 결박당한 채 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 떨어졌더라. 그때에 느부갓네살 왕이 깜짝 놀라 급히 일어나 자기의 조언자들에게 말하여 이르되, 우리가 세 사람을 결박하여 불 한가운데로 던지지 아니하였느냐? 하니 그들이 왕에게 대답하여 이르되, 오 왕이여, 옳소이다, 하매 그가 응답하여 이르되, 보라, 내가 보니 결박이 풀린 네 사람이 불 한가운데서 걷고 있는데 그들이 아무 해도 입지 아니하였고 그 넷째의 형체는 하나님의 아들과 같도다, 하더라. 그때에 느부갓네살이 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 아귀에 가까이 가서 말하여 이르되, 지극히 높으신 하나님의 종 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고야, 너희는 나와서 이리로 오라, 하니 이에 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 불 한가운데서 나오매 통치자들과 총독들과 대장들과 왕의 조언자들이 함께 모여 이 사람들을 보니 불이 그들의 몸에 힘을 쓰지 못하였고 그들의 머리털 하나도 그을리지 못하였으며 그들의 겉옷도 변하게 하지 못하였고 불 냄새도 그들에게 다가가지 못하였더라. 이에 느부갓네살이 말하여 이르되, 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 찬송할지로다. 그분께서 자신의 천사를 보내사 자신을 신뢰하며 왕의 말을 바꾸고 자기 몸을 바친 자신들의 종들을 건지셨으니 이것은 그들이 그들의 하나님 외에 어떤 다른 신을 섬기거나 그 신에게 경배하지 못하게 하려 하심이라. 그러므로 내가 칙령을 내리노니 무엇이든지 잘못 말하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 대적하는 모든 백성과 민족과 언어는 여러 조각으로 쪼개고 그들의 집을 거름더미로 삼을지니라. 이런 식으로 능히 사람을 건져 낼 다른 신은 없느니라, 하고 그 때에 왕이 바빌론 지방에서 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 높이니라.
시편 91:2-11 내가 주에 대하여 말하기를, 그분은 나의 피난처시요, 나의 요새시요, 나의 하나님이시니 내가 그분을 신뢰하리라, 하리로다. 그분께서 너를 새 사냥꾼의 올무에서와 해로운 역병에서 확실히 건지시리로다. 그분께서 자신의 깃털로 너를 덮으시리니 네가 그분의 날개 밑에서 그분을 신뢰하리로다. 그분의 진리가 너의 큰 방패와 작은 방패가 되리니 네가 밤에 임하는 두려움과 낮에 날아드는 화살과 어둠 속에서 다니는 역병과 한낮에 피폐하게 하는 멸망을 무서워하지 아니하리로다. 천 명이 네 곁에서, 만 명이 네 오른쪽에서 쓰러질 터이나 그것이 네게 가까이 오지 못하리로다. 오직 너는 네 눈으로 바라보며 사악한 자들이 보응 받는 것을 보리로다. 나의 피난처 되시는 주 곧 지극히 높으신 이를 네가 네 처소로 삼았으므로 어떤 재앙도 네게 닥치지 못하며 어떤 역병도 네 거처에 가까이 오지 못하리니 그분께서 자신의 천사들에게 너에 대한 책무를 주사 네 모든 길에서 너를 지키게 하시리라.

A CUE FROM SHADRACH, MESHACH AND ABEDNEGO
…O Nebuchadnezzar…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up (Daniel 3:16-18).
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were threatened by the government of the day to bow down to the king's golden image or burn in the fiery furnace. They refused to compromise, choosing rather to die than to cower. Their inspiring statement of conviction and absolute commitment to the Lord is what we read in our theme scripture.
Their unwavering faith in God infuriated the king who ordered that they be thrown into the fiery furnace. The fire was so intense that it burnt and killed the men that threw them in. Howbeit, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were unscathed. The Lord protected them.
When Nebuchadnezzar noticed they were unhurt by the blazing furnace, he repented and declared, “…Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him…Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort” (Daniel 3:28-29).
That’s what happens when you stand your ground in faith, in spite of fierce and daunting opposition. Soon enough, your detractors will be inspired by your faith and convictions, which could lead to their salvation. So, serve God with your life.
Your job may be taken away from you for preaching the Gospel, but they can’t take away the joy of the Lord that’s in your spirit. They may liquidate your company, but they can’t liquidate your spirit. God is able! Trust Him. Never find yourself apologetic, intimidated, or reluctant to express your convictions about Christ and the message of the Gospel. He’s greater than any government, institution or power. He’s the Monarch of the universe.
Therefore, stand your ground for Him in faith. Take a cue from Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
CONFESSION
The Word of God is in my spirit so strong; it’s as fire shut up in my bones and nothing can hinder the affirmation of my faith and my proclamation of the Gospel of Christ. I’m strengthened and energized by the Holy Spirit who lives in me, and He’s made me an absolute victor. Blessed be God!
FURTHER STUDY:
Daniel 3:16-30 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
