이후의 삶에 초점을 맞추십시오
FOCUS ON THE LIFE HEREAFTER
내가 새 하늘과 새 땅을 보았으니 이는 처음 하늘과 처음 땅이 사라졌고 바다도 다시는 있지 아니하였기 때문이더라 (요한계시록 21:1).
요한계시록 21장에서, 사도 요한은 새 하늘과 새 땅에 관하여 우리에게 말씀합니다. 그는 우리에게 거룩한 도시, 새 예루살렘에 대한 묘사를 줍니다, “나 요한이 보매 거룩한 도시 새 예루살렘이 신부가 자기 남편을 위하여 단장한 것 같이 예비한 채 하늘에서 하나님으로부터 내려오더라. 내가 하늘에서 나는 큰 음성을 들으니 이르되, 보라, 하나님의 성막이 사람들과 함께 있고 그분께서 그들과 함께 거하시리라. 그들은 그분의 백성이 되고 하나님께서는 친히 그들과 함께 계셔서 그들의 하나님이 되시리라. 또 하나님께서 그들의 눈에서 모든 눈물을 씻어 주시리라. 다시는 사망이 없고 슬픔도 울부짖음도 없으며 또 아픔도 다시는 없으리니 이는 이전 것들이 지나갔기 때문이라, 하더라” (요한계시록 21:2-4).
18-19절은 그 도시의 아름다움을 더 묘사합니다. 유리 같은 순금의 도시를 상상해 보십시오! “그 도시의 성벽 건조물은 벽옥으로 되어 있고 그 도시는 순금이며 맑은 유리 같더라. 그 도시의 성벽 기초들은 온갖 종류의 보석들로 장식되었는데....”
23절과 25절은 한층 더 나아갑니다, “그 도시는 해와 달이 안에서 빛을 비출 필요가 없었으니 이는 하나님의 영광이 그 도시를 밝혀 주었고 어린양께서 그 도시의 광체이시기 때문이라. 거기에는 밤이 없을 터이므로 낮에 그 도시의 문들을 결코 닫지 아니하리라.” 기대하기에 얼마나 놀라운 곳인지요!
당신의 초점이 파멸당할 이 현 세상에 있어서는 안 됩니다. 그보다, 우리가 그분의 영광스러운 돌아오심을 기다리는 동안 당신의 열정이 전부 그리스도와 세계 곳곳에 그분의 의의 전파에 있게 하십시오.
그분의 말씀들을 기억하십시오, “사람이 만일 온 세상을 얻고도 자기 혼을 잃으면 그에게 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?” (마가복음 8:36). 확실히 파멸될 것이고 또 다른 것으로 교체될, 이 세상은, 당신의 영혼을 잃을 가치가 없습니다, 그러므로 주님을 위해 당신의 삶을 사십시오.
고백
나의 애정은 주님과 그분의 영원한 왕국에 있습니다, 그리고 나는 나의 온 마음으로 주님을 사랑합니다. 성령님의 일들은 이 세상에 있는 어떤 것보다 나에게 아주 중요합니다. 나는 때에 맞든지 맞지 않든지, 성령님의 권능 안에서, 복음을 전파하고자 주님을 향한 나의 사랑에 의해 나아갑니다, 예수님 이름으로 고백합니다. 아멘.

골로새서 3:1-4 그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 일으켜졌거든 위에 있는 그것들을 추구하라. 거기에는 그리스도께서 하나님 오른편에 앉아 계시느니라. 위에 있는 것들에 너희의 애착을 두고 땅에 있는 것들에 두지 말라. 너희는 죽었고 너희 생명은 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감추어져 있느니라. 우리의 생명이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 그때에 너희도 그분과 함께 영광 가운데 나타나리라.
베드로후서 3:10-14 그러나 주의 날이 밤의 도둑같이 오리니 그 날에는 하늘들이 큰 소리와 함께 사라지고 원소들이 뜨거운 열에 녹으며 땅과 그 안에 있는 일들도 불태워지리라. 그런즉 이 모든 것이 해체될진대 너희가 어떤 사람이 되어야 마땅하겠느냐? 모든 거룩한 행실 속에서 하나님을 따르는 가운데 하나님의 날이 오는 것을 기다리고 서두르라. 그 날에 하늘들이 불이 붙어 해체되고 원소들도 뜨거운 열로 녹으려니와 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 그분의 약속에 따라 의가 거하는 새 하늘들과 새 땅을 기다리는도다. 그러므로 사랑하는 자들아, 너희가 그러한 것들을 기다리나니 너희가 점도 없고 흠도 없이 화평 중에 그분께 발견되기를 힘쓰라.

FOCUS ON THE LIFE HEREAFTER
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea (Revelation 21:1).
In Revelation 21, the Apostle John tells us about a new heaven and a new earth. He gives us a description of the holy city, the New Jerusalem: “And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" (Revelation 21:2-4).
Verses 18-19 further describe the beauty of the city. Imagine a city of pure glass-gold! “And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones….”
The 23rd and 25th verses take it even further: “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.” What a place to look forward to!
Your focus shouldn’t be on this current world that’ll be destroyed. Rather, let your passion be all about Christ and the spread of His righteousness around the world as we await His glorious return.
Remember His words, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). This world, which will surely be destroyed and replaced with another, isn’t worth the loss of your soul; so live your life for the Lord.
CONFESSION
My affection is set on the Lord and His eternal Kingdom, and I love the Lord with all my heart. The things of the Spirit are of greater importance to me than anything in this world. I’m propelled by my love for the Master to preach the Gospel in season and out of season, in the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
