당신이 어떤 종인지 잊지 마십시오
DON’T FORGET WHAT SPECIES YOU ARE
모든 성경 기록은 하나님의 영감으로 주신 것으로 교리와 책망과 바로잡음과 의로 교육하기에 유익하니 (디모데후서 3:16).
하나님의 말씀은 하나님 왕국의 일들에 있어 우리를 인도하고, 안내하고, 지시하고 훈련시키고자 우리에게 주어졌습니다. 그러나 더욱더 중요하게, 하나님께서는 그분이 우리를 보시는 방식으로 우리 자신을 보는 것을 우리에게 가능하게 하시려고 그분의 말씀을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 그것은 바로 그분의 말씀이 거울이기 때문입니다 (고린도후서 3:18).
당신이 하나님의 거울을 들여다볼 때, 당신은 하나님께서 당신에 관하여 가지신 형상과 그분이 당신에 관하여 생각하시는 것을 봅니다. 그분은 당신이 당신 자신에 관하여 정확한 형상을 가지고 유지하기를 원하십니다, 그래서 당신은 당신이 누구인지를 볼 수 있고 그에 합당하게 행할 수 있습니다.
야고보서 1:22-25은 동일하게 중요하고 유익한 진리를 전합니다. 그 구절은 말씀합니다, “오직 너희는 말씀을 행하는 자가 되고 듣기만 하여 너희 자신을 속이는 자가 되지 말라. 누구든지 말씀을 듣고 행하지 아니하는 자는 거울로 자기의 본래 얼굴을 들여다보는 사람과 같으니라. 그는 자기를 바라보고 자기 길로 가서 자기가 어떤 사람인지 즉시 잊어버리거니와 누구든지 자유롭게 하는 완전한 법을 들여다보며 그 안에 거하는 자는 듣고 잊어버리는 자가 아니요, 그 일을 행하는 자니 이 사람은 자기가 행하는 일에서 복을 받으리라.”
그것이 말씀을 행하는 자가 아닌 사람은 “그가 어떻게 보이는지”를 잊어버린다고 말씀하지 않는 것은 굉장한 깨우침을 줍니다. 그보다, 그것은 그가 “어떤 종류의 사람인지”를 잊어버린다고 말씀합니다. 다시 말해서, 그는 그가 보았던 “종류” 혹은 “유형”의 사람을 잊어버립니다.
하나님의 거울—그분의 말씀—은 단지 당신의 외모만을 당신에게 보여주는 것이 아닙니다, 그것은 당신의 “종류” 혹은 “종”을 당신에게 보여줍니다. 하나님의 말씀은 당신이 하나님 부류의 존재로 있음을, 당신이 가진 생명이 하나님류의 생명임을 당신에게 보여줍니다. 할렐루야! 당신의 역할은 계속해서 확고하게 하나님의 거울을 들여다보고 당신이 어떻게 보이는지, 당신이 누구인지를 잊지 않는 것입니다.
고린도후서 3:18은 말씀합니다, “그러나 우리는 다 가리지 않은 얼굴로 거울을 보는 것 같이 주의 영광을 바라보며 같은 형상으로 변화되어 영광에서 영광에 이르렀나니 이것은 곧 주의 영으로 말미암은 것이니라.” “바라보며” 라는 단어는 헬라어 “카타노에오” 에서 번역됩니다.
그것은 마음을 써서 생각하는 것, 눈여겨보는 것 혹은 늘 마음에 두는 것을 뜻합니다. 당신이 하나님의 말씀에서 본 당신에 관한 형상을 당신이 마음을 써서 생각하고 늘 마음에 둘 때, 당신은 신성한 영광, 아름다움과 탁월함의 그 똑같은 형상으로 변모됩니다. 하나님께 영광 돌립니다!
고백
나는 새로운 창조물, 이전에 결코 존재하지 않았던 존재—세상의 기초들에 대해 죽은— 새로운 종입니다! 나는 내가 말씀에서 보는 신성한 영광, 아름다움과 탁월함의 그 똑같은 형상으로 지속적으로 변모됩니다. 하나님을 송축합니다!

고린도후서 5:17 그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 그는 새로운 창조물이라. 옛 것들은 지나갔으니, 보라, 모든 것이 새롭게 되었도다.
야고보서 1:18 그분께서 자신의 뜻에 따라 진리의 말씀으로 우리를 낳으셨으니 이것은 우리가 그분의 창조물 중의 첫 열매 종류가 되게 하려 하심이라.

DON’T FORGET WHAT SPECIES YOU ARE
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
God's Word has been given to us to lead, guide, instruct and train us in the things of the Kingdom of God. But even more importantly, God gave us His Word to enable us see ourselves the way He sees us. That’s because His Word is a mirror (2 Corinthians 3:18).
When you look into the mirror of God, you see the image that God has of you and what He thinks of you. He wants you to have and retain that exact image of yourself, so you can see who you are and act accordingly.
James 1:22-25 communicates the same important and instructive truth. It says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."
It's quite enlightening that it doesn't say that the man who isn’t a doer of the Word forgets “what he looked like.” Rather, it says he forgets “what manner of man he was.” In other words, he forgets the “kind” or “type” of man that he saw. God's mirror—His Word—doesn't only show you your appearance; it shows you your “kind” or “species.” God’s Word shows you that you’re in God’s class of being, and the life you have is the God-kind of life. Hallelujah! Your part is to keep looking steadfastly into God’s mirror and not forget what you look like, who you are.
2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” The word “beholding” is translated from the Greek “katanoeō” which means to consider attentively; to fix one's eyes or mind upon. As you consider attentively and fix your mind on the image of you that you see in God’s Word, you’re transformed into the same image of divine glory, beauty and excellence. Glory to God!
CONFESSION
I’m a new creation, a new species of being that never existed before—dead to the rudiments of the world! I’m constantly transformed into the same image of divine glory, beauty and excellence that I see in the Word. Blessed be God!
