그분은 모든 것 위에 계십니다
HE’S ABOVE ALL
예수님께서 그들에게 오셔서 말씀하여 이르시되, 하늘과 땅에 있는 모든 권능이 내게 주어졌느니라 (마태복음 28:18).
위의 “권능”으로 번역된 단어는 헬라어 “엑수시아” 입니다 그것은 권위를 뜻합니다. 이 중요한 진술에서, 주님께서는 하늘에서 뿐만 아니라 땅에 있는 그분의 지배권을 확언하셨습니다.
예수님께서 땅에서 모든 권위를 행사하신 이후로, 그것은 자동적으로, 땅에 있는, 세상의 나라들이, 모두 그분의 권위 아래에 있음을 뜻합니다. 성경이 예수님께서 하늘의 영역들에, “모든 정부와 권위와 권능과 통치와 이 시대와, 또한 앞으로 올 시대에서도 끊임없이 지어지는 모든 이름보다 훨씬 위에 높이...” (에베소서 1:21 웨스트 신약 역본 WNT) 앉혀지셨다고 말씀하는 것은 놀랄 일이 아닙니다.
아십니까? 모든 것들에 대한 그분의 권위는 우리의 유익을 위한 것입니다, “...그리스도께서 모든 세력들, 권위들, 권능들, 또 통치자들 위에서 다스리시느니라. 그분은 이 세상에서 모든 존재들 위에서 다스리시고 또한 마찬가지로 미래의 세상에서 다스리시리라. 하나님께서 모든 것들을 그리스도의 권능 아래에 두셨고, 교회의 유익을 위해 그분은 그분을 모든 것의 머리가 되게 하셨느니라” (에베소서 1:21-22 현대 영어 역본 CEV). 이것은 정말 숭고합니다.
그분이 마태복음 28:18에서 하늘에 있는 또 땅에 있는 모든 권위가 그분에게 주어졌다고 선언하신 직후에, 그분은 다음 구절에서 “그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족들을 가르치...” 라는 임무를 우리에게 맡기셨습니다. 그분은 민족들—모든 사람의 세상—에게 그분의 메시지를 가져가라고 그분의 권위에 기반하여 우리를 보내셨습니다.
당신은 왜 정권 대대로, 왕국 대대로, 압제자들, 폭군들과 독재자들이 시대 내내 교회를 전멸시키려고 애썼으나 실패했는지 알 수 있습니까? 당신은 왜 어떤 것도, 누구도, 어떤 세력이나 독립체도 지금까지 교회를 파괴할 수 없었음을 알 수 있습니까? 그것은 하늘에 있는 또 땅에 있는 모든 것들에 대한 권위를 가지신 분이 유일한 한 분이시기 때문입니다, 그분의 이름은 예수님입니다. 그분은 모든 것을 지배하십니다. 그분은 “은하계로부터 이 땅의 통치에 이르기까지 우주의 모든 것을 다스리게 하셨습니다. 그분의 통치를 받지 않는 이름이나 권세가 하나도 없게 하셨습니다. 잠시만이 아니라 영원토록 그렇게 하셨습니다. 이 모든 일을 담당하고 계신 분, 모든 일의 최종 결정권을 가지고 계신 분은 그리스도이십니다...” (에베소서 1:21-22 메시지 성경 MSG). 할렐루야!
고백
주 예수님께서 모든 것들 위에서, 모든 세력들, 권위들, 정사들과 통치자들 위에서, 군림하시고 다스리십니다. 그분은 지금 세상과 앞으로 올 세상에 있는 모든 존재들을 지배하십니다 그리고 나는 그분과 하나입니다. 나는 그분의 씨이며, 그분의 날들을 연장하고 있습니다. 할렐루야!

HE’S ABOVE ALL
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18).
The word translated “power” above is the Greek “Exousia” which means authority. In this pivotal statement, the Lord affirmed His dominion not only in heaven but also in the earth.
Since Jesus wields all authority in the earth, that automatically means the nations of the world, which are in the earth, are all under His authority. No wonder the Bible says Jesus is seated in the heavenly realms, “high above all other government and authority and power and dominion, and every title of sovereignty used either in this Age or in the Age to come” (Ephesians 1:21 WNT).
Guess what? His authority over all things is for our benefit: “...Christ rules over all forces, authorities, powers, and rulers. He rules over all beings in this world and will rule in the future world as well. God has put all things under the power of Christ, and for the good of the church he has made him the head of everything” (Ephesians 1:21-22 CEV). This is so sublime.
Right after He declared in Matthew 28:18 that all authority was given to Him in heaven and in the earth, He charged us in the very next verse to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations....” He sent us on the basis of His authority to take His message to the nations—to every man’s world.
Can you see why government after government, kingdom after kingdom, tyrants, despots and dictators have tried throughout the age to annihilate the Church but failed? Can you see why nothing, no one, no force or entity would ever be able to destroy the Church? It's because there’s only One who has authority over all things in heaven and in the earth; His Name is Jesus. He rules over all. He’s “in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything...” (Ephesians 1:21-22 MSG). Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
The Lord Jesus reigns and rules over all things; over all forces, authorities, powers and rulers. He rules over all beings in this world and in the world to come and I’m one with Him. I’m His seed, prolonging His days. Hallelujah!
