그분은 우리의 대속물이셨습니다
HE WAS OUR RANSOM
저녁이 되매 그들이 마귀 들린 많은 자들을 그분께 데려오거늘 그분께서 자신의 말씀으로 그 영들을 내쫓으시고 병든 모든 자를 고쳐 주시니 이것은 대언자 이사야를 통해 말씀하신 것을 성취하려 하심이라. 이르시되, 그가 친히 우리의 연약함을 담당하고 우리의 질병을 짊어졌도다, 하였느니라 (마태복음 8:16-17).
마태는, 그 자신의 기록에서, 예수님께서 오셔서 이사야가 대언했던 것, 우리 죄들의 제거를, 성취하셨음을 위 구절에서 우리로 알게 합니다. 그분은 그분의 생명을 많은 사람들의 대속물로 주셨습니다, “너희 가운데 누구든지 으뜸이 되고자 하는 자는 너희 종이 될지니라. 이와 같이 사람의 아들도 섬김을 받으러 오지 아니하고 도리어 섬기며 자기 생명을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려고 왔느니라, 하시니라” (마태복음 20:27-28). 대속물은 보수 혹은 포로 석방을 위해 값을 치르고자 요구되는 것입니다.
온 세상은 마귀에게 사로잡혔고, 죄에게 사로잡혔고 그래서 죄 때문에 정죄 받아 죽게 되었습니다. 우리는 예수님께서 우리가 죄에서 자유롭도록, 사탄의 지배에서, 그리고 영적 죽음에서 자유롭도록 값을 치르시기까지 마귀의 적법한 포로들이었습니다. 우리는 영적 죽음의 속박 가운데 있었고 하나님으로부터 분리되었으며, 세상에서 아무런 소망이 없고 하나님이 없었습니다. 그러나 예수님께서 당신의 생명을 위해 그분의 생명을 주셨을 때 모든 것이 바뀌었습니다. 그분이 당신의 자유를 위해 치러진 대가이셨습니다.
성경은 말씀합니다, “그리스도께서도 죄들로 인하여 한 번 고난을 받으사 의로운 자로서 불의한 자를 대신하셨으니 이것은 그분께서...우리를 하나님께로 데려가려 하심이라” (베드로전서 3:18). 그것은 대체입니다. 그분은 그분 자신을 드리셔서 당신이 자유롭게 하나님을 섬기고 그분을 위하여 살게 하려 하셨습니다. 그분은 죄가 없으셨고, 거룩하셨고 의로우셨습니다, 그리고 지금 당신은 그분과 같습니다, 거룩하고, 의롭고 죄에서 자유롭습니다. 골로새서 1:21-22은, “한 때는 너희가 사악한 행위들로 인해 멀리 떨어져 너희 생각 속에서 원수가 되었으나 이제는 그분께서 죽음을 통해 자기 육체의 몸으로 화해를 이루사 너희를 그분의 눈앞에서 거룩하고 흠 없고 책망할 것이 없는 자로 제시하려 하셨으니” 라고 말씀합니다. 이것은 놀랍습니다.
이제 당신은 우리가 왜 그리스도인들로서 그리 기쁜지 그리고 영원히 찬양과 기쁨으로 가득한지 압니다. 그것은 대체에 관한 이 메시지 때문입니다, 예수님께서는 우리의 대속물이셨습니다! 그분이 당신의 죄의 자리를 취하셔서 당신이 그분의 의의 자리를 취하게 하셨습니다. 그분이 당신의 가난, 고난과 수치의 자리를 취하셔서 당신이 그분의 영광, 권능, 지배와 풍성함의 생명을 가지게 하셨습니다. 하나님을 송축합니다! 그러면 이제 무엇을 할까요? 그리스도 안에 있는 당신의 자리를 취하십시오! 그분이 당신에게 주신 그 생명—영광과 탁월함의 생명—을 사십시오. 할렐루야!

사랑하는 아버지, 주 예수님을 보내셔서 우리의 죄, 고난, 수치와 사망의 자리를 취하시고, 우리에게 그분의 의와 영광, 형통과 승리의 생명을 주심을 감사드립니다. 이제, 나는 죄와 사탄의 지배에서 자유롭습니다. 나는 하나님의 아들들의 영광스러운 자유 안에서 걸으며, 탁월함, 지배와 풍성함의 생명을 삽니다, 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

HE WAS OUR RANSOM
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses (Matthew 8:16-17).
Matthew, in his own writing, lets us know in the verses above that Jesus came to fulfil what Isaiah had prophesied: the removal of our sins. He gave His life as a ransom for many: “And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:27-28). A ransom is the consideration or what is demanded to be paid for the release of a captive.
The whole world was captive to the devil, captive to sin and therefore condemned to die because of sin. We were legal captives of the devil until Jesus paid for us to be free from sins, free from Satan’s dominion, and from spiritual death. We were in the bondage of spiritual death and separated from God, having no hope and without God in the world. But all that changed when Jesus gave His life for your life. He was the price paid for your freedom.
The Bible says, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God…” (1 Peter 3:18). That is substitution. He gave Himself that you may be free to serve God and live for Him. He was sinless, holy and righteous; and now you’re like Him; holy, righteous and sin-free. Colossians 1:21-22 says, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.” This is amazing.
Now you see why we so rejoice as Christians and are forever full of praise and joy. It’s because of this message of substitution; Jesus was our ransom! He took your place of sin so that you may take His place of righteousness. He took your place of poverty, suffering and shame so that you may have His life of glory, power, dominion and abundance. Blessed be God! So now what? Take your place in Christ! Live the life He’s given you—the life of glory and excellence. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for sending the Lord Jesus to take our place of sin, suffering, shame and death, and give us His life of righteousness and glory, prosperity and victory. Now, I'm free from the dominion of sin and Satan. I walk in the glorious liberty of the sons of God, living a life of excellence, dominion and abundance, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
