탁월한 성품
AN EXCELLENT CHARACTER
바르게 살면 앞길이 평탄하지만 악하게 살면 인생이 고단하다. 훌륭한 인격은 최고의 보험이지만 사기꾼은 자기의 악한 탐욕에 걸려 넘어진다 (잠언 11:5-6 메시지 성경 MSG).
창세기 49장에서, 성경은 야곱의 아들들을 향한 그의 마지막 말들에 대한 통찰력을 우리에게 줍니다. 그의 맏이, 르우벤에게 답하면서, 야곱은 르우벤이 소유했던 엄청난 잠재력을 인정했습니다. 그는 르우벤을 그의 맏아들, 그의 능력, 그의 남자다운 힘과 활력의 시작으로 르우벤을 묘사했고, 위엄과 권능에 있어 탁월함이 르우벤에게 그의 생득권으로 주어졌음을 강조했습니다.
하지만, 야곱은 르우벤의 성품의 결함과 그것이 그의 미래를 어떻게 망칠지 강조했습니다, “네가 물과 같이 불안정하여 뛰어나지 못하리니 이는 네가 네 아버지의 침상에 올라 그것을 더렵혔기 때문이로다. 그가 내 침상에 올랐도다” (창세기 49:4).
맏이인 것, 그리고 야곱의 강함인 것으로 인한 찬사들, 그의 모든 아들들 중 가장 강한 자와 관련된 약속들과 축복들에도 불구하고, 르우벤은 그가 성취할 수 있었던 위대함에 이르지 못 했습니다.
사람으로서 당신의 성품은 아주 중요합니다. 당신의 삶에 대해 선포되었을지도 모르는 예언들과 누가 그것들을 주었는지는 중요하지 않습니다, 마치 르우벤의 성품이 그의 삶을 망쳤던 것처럼, 당신의 성품은 예언을, 그리고 궁극적으로, 당신의 삶을 망칠 수 있습니다.
하나님의 열망은 당신의 삶에 대해 선포된 예언들이 실현되는 것입니다. 그분은 당신과 관련된 그분의 좋은 말씀이 그분이 말씀하셨던 대로 성취되기를 원하십니다. 당신의 역할은 그분의 주되심을 인식하고 적절하게 행동하며, 그분의 의 가운데 걷는 것입니다.
그분의 빛 가운데, 하나님의 뜻에 조정되어 충성스럽게 걷는 것과, 탁월한 성품을 갖는 것이 얼마나 중요한지요. 에베소서 3:16에서 당신이 성령님을 통해 속사람이 능력으로 강건하게 되도록 사도 바울을 통한 성령님의 기도의 중요성을 이제 당신은 더 잘 이해할 수 있습니다. 할렐루야!
기도
사랑하는 아버지, 나는 당신의 뜻에 조정되고 당신의 빛 가운데 충성스럽게 걷습니다. 나는 성품의 중요성과, 당신의 말씀에 따라, 똑바로 사는 것의 중요성을 인식합니다. 성경 기록에 있는 본보기들에서 배우도록 그리고 당신께 영광을 드리는 선택들을 하도록 하는 당신의 지혜로 인해 감사드립니다, 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

잠언 11:5-6 완전한 자의 의는 그의 길을 인도하려니와 사악한 자는 자기의 사악함으로 말미암아 넘어지리로다. 곧바른 자들의 의는 그들을 건지려니와 범법자들은 자기들의 해악으로 인해 붙잡히리로다.
잠언 20:11 심지어 아이의 경우에도 그가 행한 것들로 그가 한 일이 순수한지 옳은지 알 수 있느니라.

AN EXCELLENT CHARACTER
Moral character makes for smooth traveling; an evil life is a hard life. Good character is the best insurance; crooks get trapped in their sinful lust (Proverbs 11:5-6 MSG).
In Genesis 49, the Bible gives us insight into Jacob’s final words to his sons. In addressing his firstborn, Reuben, Jacob acknowledged the immense potential he possessed. He described him as his firstborn, his might, the beginning of his manly strength and vigour, and emphasized that his birthright gave him the pre- eminence in dignity and power.
However, Jacob highlighted Reuben’s character flaw and how it ruined his future: “Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch” (Genesis 49:4).
Despite the promises and blessings associated with being the firstborn, and the encomiums of being Jacob’s strength, the strongest of all his sons, Reuben would not attain the greatness he could have achieved.
Your character as a person is very important. It doesn’t matter the prophecies that may have been spoken over your life and who gave them; your character can ruin prophecy, and ultimately, your life, just as Reuben’s character ruined his life.
God’s desire is for the prophecies spoken over your life to come to pass. He wants His good word concerning you to be fulfilled just as He has said. Your role is to recognize His lordship and behave correctly, walking in His righteousness.
How important it is to walk faithfully in alignment with God’s will, in His light, and have an excellent character. Now you can better understand the import of the Spirit’s prayer through Paul in Ephesians 3:16 for you to be strengthened with excellence by the Holy Spirit in your inner man. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, I’m aligned with your will and walk in your light faithfully. I recognize the importance of character and living uprightly, according to your Word. Thank you for the wisdom to learn from the examples in Scripture and to make choices that honour you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
